HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995.05.02_City Council MinutesOWASSO CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING Tuesday, May 2, 1995 The Owasso City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, May 2, 1995 in the Council Chambers at the Owasso Community Center per the Notice of Public Meeting and Agenda posted on the City Hall bulletin board at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 1995. ITEM 1: OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED TO CITY COUNCILORS. District Court Judge Clifford Hopper administered the oath of office to Councilors Bums, Ewing, and Ramey. Councilor-elect Knudson was not present and will need to be sworn in at a later date. ITEM 2: CALL TO ORDER Vice Mayor Burns called the meeting to order at 7:02 p. m. ITEM 3: FLAG SALUTE Mr Ramey gave the invocation, followed by the flag salute, led by Vice Mayor Burris. ITEM 4: ROLL CALL PRESENT Charles Burris, Vice Mayor Danny Ewing, Councilor Joe Ramey, Councilor ABSENT Jerry Duke, Mayor Mary Lou Barnhouse, Councilor STAFF Rodney J Ray, City Manager Ronald D Cates, City Attorney Marcia Boutwell, City Clerk A quorum was declared present. ITEM 5: REQUEST APPROVAL OF THE CLAIMS. Mr Ramey moved, seconded by Mr Ewing, that the following claims be approved: (1) General Fund $24,909.60; (2) Workers Comp Self-Insurance $1,748.77; (3) Ambulance Service Fund $1,095,66; (4) E-911 $1,944.53; (5) City Garage $572.32; (6) Capital Improvements $862.05; (7) Interfund Transfers $28,158.33; (8) General Fund Payroll $100,745.18; (9) City Garage Payroll $1,987.43. Owasso City Council AYE: Ramey, Ewing, Burris NAY: None Motion carried 3-0. ITEM 6: ELECTION OF MAYOR. Mr Ewing nominated Mr Bums for Mayor. Seconded by Mr Ramey. AYE: Ewing, Ramey, Bums NAY: None Motion carried 3-0. ITEM 7: ELECTION OF VICE MAYOR. Mr Ramey nominated Mr Ewing for Vice Mayor. Seconded by Mayor Bums. AYE: Ramey, Burns, Ewing NAY: None Motion carried 3-0. May 2, 1995 Mayor Bums recessed the meeting at 7:05 p. m. for the OPWA meeting, reconvening at 7:10 p. m. ITEM 8: RECESS TO AREA NORTH OF CITY HALL FOR MEMORIAL SERVICE. Mr Ramey moved, seconded by Mr Ewing, to recess to the memorial service being held for victims of the Oklahoma City tragedy. AYE: Ramey, Ewing, Burris NAY: None Motion carried 3-0, and the meeting was recessed at 7:11 p. m. The meeting was reconvened at 7:15 p.m. at the memorial service site. Ms Barnhouse in at 7:15 p. m. 2 Owasso City Council ITEM 9: ADJOURNMENT Mr Ewing moved, seconded by Mr Ramey to adjourn.
