August 21, 1972
The Owasso Town Council met in regular session in the down Hall August 21, 1972 at
7:07 p.m.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr. Ross presented Resolution No. 41 to select two trustees for a term of five years on
the Oklahoma Municipal Retirement Board. Mr. Ross recommended Ernest Dirks, City Clerk,
Ardmore, Oklahoma and Robert L. Lomas, Mayor, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Mr. Large so moved
and Mr. Peel seconded the motion. Ayes: Ross, Large, Peel, Duncan.
Mr. Peel moved we apply for a $500.00 grant from the Civil Defense for a feasibility
study on a City Complex Building. Mr. Large seconded the motion. Ayes: Ross, Peel,
Large, Duncan.
Nir. Ross said we have been in discussion with Tulsa on water lines relocation. They
will do the work at no cost to us but Mr. Ross thinks we should change to a 12-inch
line at an approximate cost of $5,447.90• ~'• Duncan so moved. Mr. Peel seconded the
motion. Ayes: Ross, Peel, Large, Duncan.
Several people were present to again protest the mandatory trash service. Mrs. Bird
presented a petition with several signatures. (Attached) Mr. Ross said we wanted to
be fair with our senior citizens, but we must also do what we think is best for the
Town. After some discussion, it was decided to table a decision and try to come up
with a solution for next meeting.
Mr. Large moved we move the next meeting to Tuesday, Spetember 5, because of Labor Day
on Monday, September 4• Mr. Peel seconded the motion. Ayes: Ross, Peel, Large, Duncan.
There was some discussion on advertising for a City Manager but it was decided to table
the matter until a more definite date could be established for employment.
