HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968.03.18_City Council MinutesS . e.~Y March 18, 1968 The Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso met in regular session at the Town Hall at 7:00 p.m. on March 18, 1968. Present: John R. Groth Gary Evans Dean Large Inez H. Odom Josephine Downey Martha Boyd M. S. Sawyer Absent: Joe Ross (Working) Bill Henson President of the Board Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk Treasurer Attorney The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. Large reported on weekend funerals after checking with Mr. John Mowery. He recommended that our prices of $40. per funeral during the week were reasonable but moved we charge $50. on Saturday until noon and $60. after noon and on Sundays, in order to discourage funerals on weekends. He also moved we pay City employees one and one-half time on weekends for funeral work. N'~r. Evans seconded the motion. Ayes: Large, Evans, Groth. N,r. and Mrs. R. C. Williams were present with a $25• check and an application for zoning property at 30b North Main Street for Real Estate, Insurance and Accounting Office. Mr. Groth explained the request would have to be posted on the property and advertised in the newspaper and a hearing was set for April 1, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Groth read a, note requesting a baracade on Dogwood and 86th Street on 3-19-68 because of a Soil Conservation Judging Contest which would involve about 300 students. Mr. VanAlstine will be given the instruction. Nfr. Groth showed a plan to increase space at the Water Plant Office for a lab to test water and sewage as required by the Health Department. The cost would be $150. to $200. Mr. Evans moved and Mr. Large seconded we add the extra room. Ayes: Groth, Large, Evans. A claim was discussed for Terry Blackford, extra policeman, containing more hours than he~had been authorized to work. Mr. Groth recommended we disallow the extra time and pay him for only eight hours a day. The following to be disallowed on the designated days: 2-23 less $2.00 2-24 " 1.00 Mr. Large so moved. Mr. Evans seconded the motion 3-1 1.00 Ayes: Groth, Large, Evans. 3-2 1.00 3-15 t- 1.00 3-16 2.00 8.00 Total Mr. Evans moved and Mr. Large seconded that P~. VanAlstine, Town Marshal be appointed to serve papers to the Owasso Builders Supply and to each of the three Hale Brothers, partners and owners of Sherrill Heights, as per Resolution No. 6, declaring the necessity of the construction of sidewalks in the addition. Mr. Large seconded the motion. Ayes: Groth, Large, Evans. Q ~ ' _~ March 18, 1968 -- Minutes continued --- Mr. Sawyer explained that the City has authority to shut off water for heavy water users in case of an emergency but that he would make an Ordinance covering the details of the emergency.
