Present: John R. troth V. D. Duncan Joe Ross Dean Large Ernie Foster Inez Odom Josephine Downey Martha Boyd 1~. S. Sawyer President of the Board Trustee Trustee Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk Treasurer Attorney The minutes of the last regular and special meetings were read and approved as read. Mr. troth suggested the Police Commissioner tell Mr. Rosecrans that since we have received about five or six garnishee notices already, if we receive another one, he be dismissed. Mr. Duncan moved and Mr. noss seconded that since Dorothy Allsup's salary is so near Josephine Downey's and since Miss Downey has so much more responsibility, we raise her salary $25. as of February 1, 1967, bringing it to $350. Ayes: troth, Duncan, Ross, Large, Foster. Mr. troth said we are out of single grave space in the cemetery and he and Mr. 'T'yler suggested the following spaces be designated and sold for single grave space: Block E -- Lots 11-18 Lots 43-50 Lots 75-7g Mr. Large so moved and Mr. Foster seconded the motion. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, ~~is~~r..l' ~N c ~ ;~~ A letter was received from Attorney A. D. Mason, stating that he had been employed by Evelylene Sappington to represent her in connection with an accident which occurred on the 12t1i day of,December involving a pity vehicle. Copies of the letter were sent to our attorney and insurance adjuster. Mr. Ross recommended we sub=.gest Soc put a sidewalk island around the water hydrant simular to the .new Post Office corner, when parking space is hard-surfaced at the laundry for diagonal parking. Mr. Sawyer said we need new traffic tickets printed with more room for information. Mr. troth suggested Mr. Sawyer make a suitable form for printing tr~en order 500 forms. Mr. Duncan so moved and Mr. Foster seconded the motion. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, Cancan. Mr. Large moved and Mr. T'oster seconded we sell Straudy McCarty three lots for x'75. beside his sister-in-law's grave in the cemetery. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, '~uncan. Mr. McCarty, County employee, agreed to start work right away on a ditch on the west side of the alley at the Assembly of God Church; to pull some trees near the new Post Office and to lay the between 1st Street and Broadway on the west side of Atlanta in the drainage ditch. ~.~ ~~ January 23, 1967 Minutes continued--- Mr. Sawyer presented Ordinance No. 86 for discussion, proposing a ]..,~ sales tax for the Town of Owasso. Mr. troth said he is for the tax in order to do some of the things the citizens have been asking for such as swimming pool, main street improvement and community building. Mr. Foster said he is in favor of the tax but thinks we should specify the use of the money. lifter some discussion, Mr. Buncan moved we enact Ordinance No. 86 to levy a sales tax in the Town of Owasso. Mr. Ross seconded the motion. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, Duncan. Mr. Foster moved that an emergency be declared and the Ordinance be affective immediately. Mr. Large seconded the motion. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, Duncan. A resolution was submitted calling for an election for a ].,~ sales tax on February 21, 1967. Mr. Large moved and Mr. Ross seconded we pass on the resolution. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, Duncan. Mr. Duncan moved an emergency be declared and the resolution be affective immediately. Mr. Large seconded the motion. Ayes: troth, Foster, Ross, Large, Duncan. The following claims were approved: Owasso Util.
