HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967.06.19_City Council Minutesc~ ,`°'~. <,~~ _ . June 19, 1967 The Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso met in regular session at 7:00 p.m. on June 19, 1967 in the Town Hall. Present: Joe Ross Dean Large Gary Evans Mike Chandler Inez H. Odom Josephine Downey M. S. Sawyer Evan L. Davis Absent: John Groth on vacation Acting President of the Board Trustee Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk Attorney Financial Consultant to Municipalities The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. Sawyer read an agreement between the Town of Owasso and Edgar A. and Reba Jewel Wells which consisted of abandonment of a sewer easement across Block 26 by the Town; and the construction of a new manhole and sewer line by Wells which will become the property of the Town upon completion. Mr. Large moved and Mr. Chandler seconded we execute the agreement drawn by Mr. Sawyer. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. Mr. Chandler moved and Mr. Evans seconded we table the petition for vacating the alley until the execution by Wells of a contract to construct a shopping center on Block 26. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, L arge. Mr. Evans moved and Mr. Large seconded we continue the hearing on Dr. Reed+s zoning and annexation until the next meeting since Dr. Reed was not present. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. Mr. Evans moved and Nor. Chandler seconded we table Dr. Bryson+s application for rezoning and annexation until next meeting as Dr. Bryson was not present. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. Mr. Chandler suggested and moved that we raise Bill Fain+s (Policeman) salary to $2.00 per hour. Mr. Evans seconded the motion. Ayes: Ross, Chandler'; Evans, Large. Mr. Chandler reported the Residents at 8th and Main Street refused to cut the shrubbery extending into the street and suggested we write a letter requesting the removal of the shrubbery. Mr. Chandler stated that motorcycle riders have been picked up and taken into Tulsa for failure to wear helmets as required by law. He suggested we make an ordinance covering all State Requirements of motorcycle riders with a minimum of a $20. Fine for violations. Mr. Sawyer will make the Ordinance. Mr. Ross read a Proclamation asking that all Church bells be rung for four minutes at 1:00 p.m. on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Mr. Chandler moved we adopt the Proclamation. Mr. Evans seconded the motion. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. Mr. R. C. Williams of Graceland Acres representing Owasso Youth Palace, asked the Town to waive the customary plumbing inspection fee on the plumbing installed by Mr. Duncan in the vacant building being remodeled for the youth of Owasso. Mr. Chandler moved we contribute the fee to the Organization. Mr. Evans seconded the ~~ June 19, 1967 -- Minutes continued--- motion. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. After some discussion, it was decided the building must be rezoned for a Youth Center. Mr. Williams was given instructions to proceed with the rezoning and Mr. Chandler moved and Mr. Evans seconded we waive the zoning fee. Ayes: Ross, Chandler, Evans, Large. Mr. Evan L. Davis came before the Board to discuss a proposed bond issue for a Neighborhood Facilities Bu~.ilding. Mr. Chandler moved we ta~ile the discussion and plans for the assessment grid bond issue vote for the Facilities because several of the Trustees had to leave for other meetings and to sponsor ball games. Mr. Evans seconded the motion.
