HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965.05.17_City Council MinutesrJ May 17, 1965 The Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso met in regular session at the Town Hall on the 17th day of May, 1965 at 7:20 p.m. Present: John troth Gary Sherrill Ernie Foster Dean Large V. D. Duncan Inez Odom Josephine Downey A~I. S. Sawyer President of the Board Trustee Trustee Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk Attorney The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved as read with the ex- ception of a correction by Mr. Sawyer to read "Mr. Sawyer presented a notice of hearing" instead of a petition etc. Mr. troth asked for nominations for treasurer. Mr. Sherrill nominated Mr. Rosecrans. Mr. Foster seconded the nomination. All in favor. Mr. Rosecrans was elected. Mr. troth read an application from Dr. Reed for continuance of Health Officer, and asked for nominations. Mr. Sherrill nominated Dr. Evans. Mr. Duncan seconded the nomination. All in favor. Dr. Evans was elected. Mr. Powell's request for reconsideration of a building permit bill on the new school was brought up for discussion. Mr. troth said he checked with Tulsa County and found Mr. Powell saved several thousand dollars on plumbing and electrical fees by coming into the City. After some discussion, the Board expressed sympathy and asked that the School Board be represented in a discussion before a decision is made. Mr. Hale was called for discussion on water meter billing. Mr. troth had done some investigating but after some discussion, it was agreed to investigate further. Mrs. Eva O'Brien, 209 E. 3rd Ave. asked for commercial zoning for house trailers. She was told to make formal application with a X25. fee, publish and a hearing would be set for the next regular meeting. Don Riffe, of Employer's Group of Insurance Companies and Mr. Byrd of Byrd Construction Co. appeared before the Board. Mr. troth read a copy of a letter from Mr. Riffe to Infilco Co. regarding claim for payment, a copy of a letter from H. J. Basic, Infilco Co. to h4r. Riffe's Co, and a letter from Mr. Riffe to the Board of Owasso in regard to final payment to Byrd Construc- tion Co. Mr. troth had talked with Mr. M anser, who said only a few things remained to be com- pleted and could probably be taken care of soon. Mr. troth recommended we pay Mr. Byrd and withhold $1,000. for the Items listed, including repair and blacktop of driveways at 503 N. Birch and 505 N. Birch. Mr. Foster moved the recommendation be acc~;pted. Mr. Sherrill seconded the motion. Ayes: Foster, Sherrill, troth. Nays: Large and Duncan. a resolution Mr. Sawyer presented a~ end}aa~ee-pertaining to revising, reprinting and binding the ordinances for the Town of Owasso. Mr. Duncan moved we accept the e~~~~a~ae- resolution. Mr. Foster seconded the motion. All in favor. l~ May 17, 1965 Mr. Groth read a letter from Charles D. Newton, Head of Water Pollution Control Section stating that representative from the State Department of Health and the U.S. Public Health Service would conduct a survey of sewer facilities on May 19, 1965 at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Foster and Sherrill expressd the need for a planning commission.
