HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965.03.15_City Council Minutes~l March 15, 1965 The Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso met in regular session at the Town Hall on the fifteenth day of March, 1965 at 7:00 p.m. Present: W. J. Bryson Don Austin V. D. Duncan Floyd Flournoy Inez H. Odom Josephine Downey President of the Board Trustee Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. Bob Campbell explained the location of the new street lights to be installed. Wayne Beane asked for a permit to build a new double driveway. Mr. Bryson said there is no ordinance asking for a permit and the Board agreed that his request be granted. Mr. Theo Burd said his son got a ticket for speeding, issued by a policeman who was not in a marked car and was not wearing a uniform. The policeman talked "smart" to his son and Mr. Burd thinks he should be reprimanded. Mr. Bryson said he would talk with the officer and he apologized to Mr. Burd. Mr. Bryson opened bids on a new fire truck: Boardman Co. $11,900.00 Bill Story Co. 11,575.00 Mr. Austin moved we buy the truck from Bill Story Company provided contract is ap- proved by our City Attorney. Mr. Flournoy seconded the motion. Ayes: Austin, Duncan, Flournoy, Bryson. Ernie Foster, who is building a new Tastee Freeze beside Allyn~s Station said there was a big ditch on the West side of the building and asked permission to install a drain pipe completely across the west side. The Board granted permission but asked that pipe be adequately large. The Board discussed the building of a jail and shed and agreed that Mr. Flournoy should take charge of building back of the old building on the ~%ity property as far back as space permits, then tsar down the old building, It was decided to use old city owned material where feasible. Mr. Flournoy asked for a water tap to be installed in the cemetery. The Board agreed to notify Mr. Smithers and have Tyler install the meter. Mr. Flournoy moved we hire Leonard Thompson at $312. per month as of April 1, 1965. Mr. Austin seconded the motion. Ayes: Austin, Duncan, Flournoy, Bryson. Mr. Austin moved we annex the cemetery with Ordinance No. 58. Mr. Duncan seconded the motion. Ayes: Austin, Bryson, Flournoy, Duncan. Mr. Austin moved that an emergency exists and the ordinance go into effect immediately following publication and approval of the Board and the County Commissioners of Tulsa County. Mr. Flournoy seconded the motion. Ayes: Austin, Flournoy, Bryson, Duncan. ~~®~ March 15, 1965 Minutes continued A petition was received from John N. and Minnie B. Pavey asking for annexation of their property: The East 228 Feet of the North 120 Feet of the North One-Half of the Northwest Quarter (NW~), of the South- West Quarter (SW~), of the Northeast Quarter (NE~), Owasso Township, Section 30, Township 21 N., Range 14 E., of the Indian Base and Meridian, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, approximately .63 Acres. The Board agreed to publish the Pavey's request and act upon same at the next regular meeting. Mrs. Odom read a copy of a letter to Mansur, Steele & Associates from Byrd Construction Company denying their responsibility for a break in the line installed by them. A copy of the reply from Mansur to Byrd Construction was also read in which Mansur said they were responsible. The claim from Byrd Construction Company was not approved pending satisfactory completion of work. A letter was read from Sherrill and Sherrill stating the rent on the building used by the City would be increased from $60. to $75. as of April 1, 1965. A deed was presented from J. Ray and Ola Smith, giving the Park to the Town: A portion of land beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot Two (2), Block Two (2), Marywood Addition, thence North a distance of 573.78 feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of Lot Six (6), Block Six (6), Smithview Addition , thence East along the South Boundary line of Block Six a distance of 380 feet, thence South a distance of 573.78 feet, more or less, thence West a distance of 380 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning, all in the City of Owasso, Tulsa County, Oklahoma. Section 30, Township 21, hange 14, East. Mr. Austin moved we accept the park from Mr. Smith, Mr. Duncan seconded the motion. dyes: Duncan, Austin, Bryson.
