HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964.02.03_City Council Minutes~ ~J 9 February 3, 1964 The Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, State of Oklahoma, met in regular session at the Town Clerk's office on the 3rd day of February, 1964 at 7:00 p.m. Present: W. J. Bryson Floyd Flournoy Don Austin V. D. Duncan Inez Odom Josephine Downey M. S. Sawyer President of the Board Trustee Trustee Trustee Town Clerk Deputy Clerk Attorney The minutes of the last regular meeting of January 20, 1964 were read and approved as read. Mr. Sawyer presented an agreement between the City and W. M. Haggerty, for the purpose of using his property for a dump. The agreement was acceptable to the Council. ~~ \~ Mr. Sawyer also presented Ordinance No. 45 declaring it to be unlawful for a person ~ of to drive within the town of Owasso without an operator's license; and declaring an ~~ emergency. Mr. Bryson moved we pass Ordinance No. 45. Duncan seconded the motion. Ayes: Bryson, Flournoy, Austin, Duncan. Bryson moved that an emergency exists and that the Ordinance should be in effect immediately. Duncan seconded the motion. Ayes: Bryson, Flournoy, Austin, Luncan. Mr. Bryson read a copy of a letter to the state Health Department, written by Cline L. Mansur asking assistance in obtaining approvals from F.H.A. on new subdivisions, which had been deadlocked because of water conditions. The Council agreed to try to set a meeting with M.D. and Thelma Ator for Saturday afternoon, February £3, 1964 for the purpose of obtaining land for the new water tower. The repair work was finished on the present water tank and a claim was approved for payment to Midwest Tank & Reservoir Service. Mr. Flournoy expressed a desire to resign in favor of Jim McGill. No comment was made by the Board. Miss Downey asked the Council to purchase an addressing machine for $1,194.74 which would cut the work down from three or four days to approximately one-half hour. Mr. Bryson expressed favor for the machine. Mr. Flournoy said we should have a jail before any other large purchases were made. Mr. Flournoy moved we advertise for bids on plans presented by Mr. Clay at~last meeting for a jail. Mr. Duncan seconded the motion. Ayes: Bryson, Flournoy, Austin, Duncan. Dr. Reed stated that a test was made on our water on January 1$, 1964 and was reported to meet State requirements. Dr. Reed also presented "Proposed Health Regulations for Owasso".
