Reed Town Clerk Josephine Downey Deputy Clerk The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no corrections or additions, the minutes stood approved as read. follows: The treasurers s report as of May 31, 1962 was presented as General Fund ~ 2,360.24 Street and Alley Fund 5,654.96 Sinking Fund 5,367.71 Water Fund 6,403.62 Sewer Fund 1,011.88 Sewer Improvement Fund 35,436.40 Park Fund 468.19 Meter Deposit Fund 1,160.05 Cemetery Fund 1,750.59 Sealed bids in connection with the sewer expansion construction were received. and opened as follows: (1) Midstate Construction Company 700 SW 46th Street Oklahoma City, Oklahoma $58,909.99 (2) Sylvester Construction Co., Inc. P. o. Box 66 Holdenville, Oklahoma $51,671.95 Total - Modification A $51,471.95 Total - Modification B 50,871.95 (3) Miller Construction Co. 5845 East 11th Street Tulsa, Oklahoma X53,254.00 Total - Modification A X52,254.00 Total -Modification B 51,254.00 Minutes -June 4, 1962 Page 2 The engineering estimate by Owen, Mansur & Steele was opened and read as follows: Grand Total $46,202.45 Total -Modification A $45,602.45 Total -Modification B 43,502.45 Charney moved all bids for the sewer expansion construction be rejected inasmuch as all bids received exceeded the funds available for the construction. Second, Hayes. Aye, Bryson, Hayes, Charney. Mr. Cline Mansur will make an official tally of the bids received for the record and will also analyze all bids to ascertain where reductions in cost can be made. Bryson acknowledged receipt of letter dated June 2, 1962 from A. E. Aaronson of the Tulsa City-County Library Commission acknowledging the recorrunendation of the Board of Trustees that the site of C. B. Sherrill be used for the Owasso library. Bryson acknowledged receipt of letter dated June 4, 1962 from Raymond May requesting aid from the Town of Owasso regarding the drainage problem in the 300 block north between Birch a.nd Atlanta streets. County Corrnnissioner Frank O'Brien was present and announced that the Oklahoma State Highway Commission would let the contract for improvement of Main Street through the business district in July or August. Charney requested that the record reflect that the Board of Trustees was in favor of this project. Hayes reported that many property owners were dissatisfied with the stand-up curbs planned by the Oklahoma State Highway Commission. Upon request for his opinion, Mr. Mansur stated that a stand-up curb was the superior type of curb and for best safety parallel parking would be most desirable. Mr. O'Brien warned those present at the meeting to be cautious about objections made to the Oklahoma State Highway Commission inasmuch as the project could be cancelled. Mr. C'Brien further stated he had no recommendation to make concerning the curb objection. The Board of Trustees will meet with interested property o•~rners at 7:00 P. M. in Town Ha.11 on Wedxiesday, June b, 1962, to discuss this problem. Mr. OBrien further reported that the ribbon cutting for the Mingo Valley Expressway would be held at 6:00 P. M., June 2g, 1962, on the 76th Street North overpass. He requested the cooperation of all Owassons in preparing the ribbon cutting ceremonies. The Board of Trustees pledged their support. Mr. W. E. Sides requested permission to buy a building permit to construct a shed on his property for the purpose of raising rabbits for show purposes. Mr. C. B. Shannon, Town Policeman, requested an ordinance to aid him in controlling motor scooters. The Board will entertain such an ordinance. Minutes - June 4, 1962 Page 3 Hayes moved that the Board enact Ordinance No. 34, controlling the sale and use of fireworks, as a replacement for Ordinance No. 3. Second, Charney.
