HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982 07_Small Cities Community Development Block Grant_1982.10.19RESOLUTION #82-07 WHEREAS, Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Public Law 93-383, as amended, authorized the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, as representative of the United States of America, to grant to the State of Oklahoma funds and administrative responsibility for the "Small Cities Community Development Block Grant" program, and WHEREAS, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development has made the grant and the State of Oklahoma has accepted the grant in and by a grant agreement dated August 31, 1982, and WHEREAS, the Department of Economic and Community Affairs pursuant to designation by the Governor as the administering agency of the grant for the State of Oklahoma and further pursuant to Title 74, Sections 1517 et seq. of the Oklahoma Statutes and to House Bill No. 1567 of the Second Session of the 38th Oklahoma Legislature appropriating funds to the Depart- ment of Economic and Community Affairs for furthering the purposes of community development in the State of Oklahoma, is authorized and empowered to accept funds from the Federal government or its agencies or from any other source for community development and other purposes and to enter into such contracts and agreements as are necessary to carry out the functions of the Department of Economic and Community Affairs, and WHEREAS, the City of Owasso is a local unit of general purpose govern- ment and has provided an opportunity for the residents of Owasso to make input to the development and prioritizing of the needs of the governmental subdivision, and WHEREAS, the needs of the governmental subdivision are attached as a statement of needs, and WHEREAS, the City of Owasso, a governmental subdivision of the State of Oklahoma, agrees to abide by the "Needs Classification" as determined by the Department of Economic and Community Affairs; BE IT RESOLVED by the Owasso City Council of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma: that the governmental subdivision desires to participate in the "Small Cities Community Development Block Grant" program and requests that the Department of Economic and Community Affairs schedule a meeting with the governing body at a "regularly scheduled meeting" of the govern- ing body as required by the Open Meeting Law (Title 25, Sections 301-314 of State Statutes) to verify the need(s) and determine a course of action.
