ITEM 5: CONSIDERATION AND APPROPRIATE ACTION RELATING TO A
REQUEST FOR A CHANGE ORDER TO A CONTRACT WITH LANDCO
CONSTRUCTION CO LLC PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE
CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1212 12 FOR THE PURPOSE OF
INSTALLING TWO CHECK VALVES
Mr Carr said that a construction contract for the Water Booster Pump Station was awarded to
Landco Construction Co on March 5, 1996. Two check valves were included in the original
design. Those check valves were eliminated at the pre -bid meeting. It was later determined that
check valves are necessary to properly maintain the flow of water to customers during times
when higher pressure is needed for other reasons (firefighting). The City Manager authorized
a change to the bid documents to install check valves. This was done so that work on the pump
station could continue and would not have to wait until a Change Order was approved by the
Authority. Chairman Ewing moved, seconded by Mr Standridge, to approve Change Order # 1
to the Water Booster Pump Station contract with Landco Construction Co LLC, for the
installation of check valves in the amount of $1212.00.
