Many of our friends and suDporters J"Ln Owasso would probably conclude that due to Bird Creek flooding we have now "an abundant water supply." Be that as it may, facetiously, we both understand the seriousness of the water supply oroblem, In view of his letter, I have sent correspondence urging favorable action on -the City of Tulsa.'s request. If, in the meantime, you have reflections on this or any other matter with which I can lend assistance, please feel free, as always to write, or visit. THOMAS, JR. SA January 28, 1975 The Honorable Bob R. Shatwell Oklahoma State Senate State Capitol Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 713105 Dear Senator Shatwell® On February 7, 1975, at 9:00 a.m., the City of Tulsa will appear at a hearing before the Oklahoma Water Resources Board to request water rights for 150 million gallons per day from the Illinois River at the Tankiller Dam. This water has already been impounded by the Corps of Engineers and if granted the. water rights, we will request storage allocation from the Engineers in the already existing facilities. We earnestly ask your support of this project which will most certainly affect the future water supply not only of the City of Tulsa but Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Owasso and Sand Springs; and we are now discussing a permanent connection with Sapulpa. Our application, therefor ' e, is more of a regional nature for this whole area rather than one for the City of Tulsa alone. If you will support this project, will you please communi- cate the same to the Water Resources Board and also solicit any and all support that you are able to find among your fellow legislators from whatever district they may live in. Thank you very much for your consideration.
