HomeMy WebLinkAbout1988 11_Return City Land back to Township_1988.08.16CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA RESOLUTION NUMBER 88 -11 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF OWASSO REQUESTING THE ASSISTANCE OF THE TULSA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS IN THE CITY'S EFFORTS TO OBTAIN THE RETURN OF CERTAIN PROPERTY TO CITY OWNERSHIP, SUCH PROPERTY CURRENTLY HELD BY THE TULSA CITY - COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, The City of Owasso, through its predecessor government, the Owasso Town Board of Trustees, did deed certain properties located at 319 South Cedar to Tulsa County on May 3, 1971; and WHEREAS, The expressed use of the properties was for the exten- sion of public health facilities and services to the local citizenry; and WHEREAS, The voters of Owasso and Tulsa County did pass a general obligation bond issue and did subsequently issue such bond for a resulting millage levy on the property owners of Owasso and Tulsa County for the purpose of constructing a public health facility upon such property; and WHEREAS, the operating authority of the above described property and facility has recently determined that the Owasso facility should be closed in favor of a regional approach to providing public health facilities; and WHEREAS, the original deed restricts the use of such property to municipal office, police, fire, jail, court, or public health facility through the date of April 19, 1991; and WHEREAS, the City of Owasso has expressed an interest in acquiring the facility and property for use as a portion of its municipal complex or other appropriate use; and WHEREAS, the City does not have excess funds available for the purchase of such facility as requested by the operating authority; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Tulsa County is the proper authority for resolution of this matter. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Owasso that the Tulsa Board of County Commissioners and individually, Commissioner Lewis Harris, be requested and petitioned to provide assistance to the City of Owasso in its efforts to obtain the return of the above described property and facility to the City for use as a municipal building. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Tulsa County and Commissioner Lewis Harris be petitioned to actively intervene on behalf of the City of Owasso in this matter for the expressed purpose of obtaining the return of the property and facility at no cost to the municipality or its agencies. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Owasso be directed to transmit this resolution and other pertinent information directly to the Tulsa County Board of Commissioners as soon as possible after the meeting wherein passage of this resolution is obtained.
