HomeMy WebLinkAbout1951.11.06_City Council MinutesNovember 6, 1951 Council met in adjourned session with mr turner in chair all members present minutes of last regular meeting read and approved as read. the following claim sread and allowed. motion was made by purvis sec'd by bryson to adopt resolution introduced by turner to authorize the calling and holding of an election in town of owasso for purpose of sumitting to the qualifed voters tax paying the question of issuance of bonds in the sum of $38,000.00 to provide tunds for construction and equipping a sanitary sewer system and sewarge disposal plant for the town of owass. motion carried. said election to be held nov. 20, 1951. no further business meeting adjourned. ~VILLE NEWS . _ Tl; ELECTION PROCLAIVIATION Under and by virtue of Section 27, Article 10 of the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma and a certain res- olution of the Town of Owasso in said state, passed on the 6th day of No- vember 1951, authorizing the calling of an election for the purpose herein- after -set forth, I, the undersigned, President of the Board of Trustees of said Town, hereby call an election to be held in said town on the 20th day of November 1951 for the purpose of submitting to the registered qualified property tax paying electors of said town the following proposition. Shall the Town of Owasso, State of Oklahoma, incur an in- debtedness by issuing its nego- tiable coupon bonds in the sum of Thirty Eight Thousand ($38,- 000.00) Dollars to provide funds for the purpose of constructing and equipping a sanitary sewer system and sewage disposal plant, to be owned exclusively by said ~ town; and levy and collect an an- nual tax, in addition to all other taxes, upon all the taxable prop- erty in said town sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds as it falls due and also to constitute a sinking fund for the payment of the principal thereof when due, said bonds to bear interest at not to exceed the rate of 5 % per centum per annum, payable semi-annually and to become due serially within twenty-five years from their date. The ballots used at said election shall set out the proposition as above set forth and shall also contain the words First: ( ) For the above proposi- tion Second, ( )Against the above proposition (If the voter desires to vote for the above proposition he shall stamp or mark an "X" in the first square above; if he desires to vote against the above proposition he shall stamp or mark an "X" in the second square above.) The polls shall be opened at eight o'clock A. M. and remain open con- tinuously until and be closed at six o'clock P. M. The number and location of the polling places and the persons who shall conduct said election shall be as follows OWASSO TOWNSHIP N0. 3. Polling Place: ODD FELLOWS LODGE HALL In the Town of Owasso. Mrs. L. R. Nicholson and Mrs. Oma Lester, Judges; Mrs. Max- ine V. Smithers and Beatrice Miller, Clerks. Such officers shall also act as counters.
