AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES TO APPOINT A
STREET COMMISSIONER, DEFINING HIS DUTIES AND FIXING HIS COMPENSATION.
SECTION 1. The Board of Trustees shall appoint annually a,
Street Commissioner, said appointnert to be made at the first
meeting of the Board of Trustees, Said Street commissioner to
hold his office for one (1) year or until his successor shall have
been appointed and qualified.
SECTION 2. The Board of Trustees shall superintend the grading,
paving and improving of streets and the building and repairing of
sidewalks.
SECTION 3. The StreetComissioner shall be in charge of all
street work ordered to be done upon the streets or alleys by way
of repairs or new improvements, whether being done by himself or
under contract.
SECTION 4. He shall inform himself as to all needed repairs of
streets and alleys anywhere in the Town; ascertain the cost of
labor and material and when so ascertained he shall make it known to
the Board of Trustees by report in writing.
SECTION 5. He shall be held responsible for all tools placed in
his hand and turn over to his successor in office a list of all
tools on hand, stating the condition of the tools; he shall receipt
the Trustees for all tools placed in his hands, stating the condition
of the same at time of receipt.
SECTION 6. The Street Commissioner shall be allowed Two Dollars
($2.00) per day for time actually put in on the
streets. He shall present an itemized statement of labor
performed as Commissioner and the number of days labor, as
Commissioner, to the Board of Trustees for their approval.
