July 15, 1971
The Owasso Planning Commission met in a regularly scheduled meeting
July 15, 1971 in City Hall.
Present:
Alan Anderson, Chairman
Guy Manning
Tom Rikkola
Sharonell Stevens
John Groth, New Member
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Alan Anderson,
who welcomed John Groth as the new Council - appointed member of the
Owasso Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Bob Peel
who resigned to fill a seat on the Council.
The Commission agreed to send a note of approval to the Rogers
County Commissioners in regard to their recent ruling on the
rock crusher located east of Owasso reversing the decision of the
Rogers County Planning Commission Zoning Committee. The area East
of Owasso is zoned general agriculture and unless the rock crushing
company gets a court order the operation now in existence will have
to cease.
Mr. Maurice B. Fry;-presented a plan to develop 3.18 acres of land
east of Owasso into a trailer park for elderly citizens. Mr. Rikkola
I pointed out that the city ordinances require a minimum of five acres
1 for a trailer park. Mr. Fry stated that if that was the case he
would not pursue the matter further. He then discussed a drainage
problem on his land which was created by the development of the
Wi.11awood Addition.
Rev. Bill Hess, Church of the Nazarene, presented a proposal for
building a new church on property now owned and occupied by the
Church of the Nazarene for preliminary discussion. Owasso's ord-
inances require 1 parking space for every four seats; the future
maximum capacity will be 200 seats. Guy Manning moved the proposal
be defeated due to inadequate off - street parking. Seconded by Tom
Rikkola. Approved.
John Groth moved for adjournment. Guy Manning seconded. Approved.
