HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994.08.23_OPGA MinutesOWASSO PUBLIC GOLF AUTHORITY MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING Tuesday, August 23, 1994, 5:30 p.m. Bailey Golf Ranch Maintenance Facility MEMBERS PRESENT Brian Skelton Glenna Anderson Bob Oldefest Ed Sokolosky Tom Rikkola STAFF PRESENT Warren Lehr Kirk Ruark Sam Swanson Pam Marshall Marcia Boutwell The Owasso Public Golf Authority met in a regular session on Tuesday, August 23, 1994 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bailey Golf Ranch Maintenance Facility per the Notice of Public Meeting posted on the City Hall bulletin board at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 1994. ITEM 1: CALL TO ORDER Chairperson Bryan Skelton called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., and declared a quorum present. ITEM 2: REQUEST APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY 26, 1994 REGULAR MEETING Glenna Anderson moved to approve the minutes as written. Motion seconded by Tom Rikkola and carried 5-0. ITEM 3: CONSIDERATION AND APPROPRIATE ACTION RELATING TO THE FINANCIAL REPORTS Mr Swanson and Ms Marshall reviewed and discussed the financial reports for the month of June. Attention was called to the operating summary on page five of the executive summary narrative. A month -to -date income summary (August I -August 21) was also presented and discussed. ITEM 4: GENERAL DISCUSSION AND UPDATE ON GOLF COURSE MANAGEMENT ISSUES Mr Ruark discussed the condition of the course and work that is being done. A question was raised concerning the filtering system for the water from the ponds. Mr Lehr and Ms Anderson discussed the meeting that was held with Roy Cartwright and Bland Pittman relating to golf course issues. Owasso Public Golf Authority Minutes of August 23, 1994 Page 2 ITEM S: UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. Status of OPGA audit - Ms Boutwell reported that the audit for FY93-94 hasn't been started. The auditor has been away from her office on maternity leave, but is due back the week of August 29. 2. Status of lake dredging - A draft report is due from INCOG by the middle of September. The lake is extremely shallow is many places. There may be a problem with the dam if silt is dredged away from it. Trustees discussed utilizing the Corps of Engineers or a similar method to remove the silt. Questions to be answered include the depth of the silt, the volume of material needing to be moved, and a cost estimate of the project. 3. Mowing right-of-way along 86th - The county has been doing some of the mowing. The city does not currently have the manpower to mow the right-of-way. ITEM 6: NEW BUSINESS Mr Lehr assisted at the PGA tournament held in Tulsa. ITEM 7: ADJOURNMENT Ed Sokolosky moved, seconded by Bob Oldefest to adjourn.
