AN ORDINANCE CHANGING BOUNDRIES OF, REAPPORTION, AND INCREASING THE NUMBER OF WARDS FOR WHICH
TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, ARE CHOSEN OR ELECTED, BY CREATING ONE ADDITIONAL
WARD, ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER OF WARDS WITHIN SAID TOWN TO BE FIVE (5) WARDS AND CHANGING
THE NAME OR NUMBER OF WARDS THERETO TO NUMBER "ONE (1) "TWO" (2), "THREE" (3), "FOUR (4),
AND "FIVE" (5), THE BOUNDARIES OF WHICH ARE DESCRIBED IN THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING AUTOMATIC
INCLUSION OF TERRITORY ANNEXED TO THE TOWN OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, AFTER PASSAGE AND APPROVAL
OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, it having been brought to the attention of the BOard of Trustee of the Town of
Owasso, Oklahoma, that by reson of annexation of territory to the town, a marked increase
in its population, and a shifting of residence of quarlified voters within said town, changes
should be made as to the number and boundaries of wards for which the Trustees of the Town
of Owasso should be chose or elected, in order to assure a more equal representation of the
citizens and inhabitants of said Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, and
WHEREAS, a Committee on Reappointnment having been heretofore appointed to investigate,
examine and report as to the need of changes and to subit its report, together with a plan
or plat suggesting changes calculated to be to the best interest of citizens, electors and
property owners within said Town of Owasso, which committee thereupon, after its investigation,
made its report and sumitted a plan or plat proposed to affect a mroe equal and fair
representation of this citizens, electors and property owners of the said Town of Owasso, and
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, signed
by more than fifty-five per cent. (55%) of the qualified electors of the town as shown by the
preceding general election, praying for a change in the name, number and boundaries of wards,
within said town, to conform to the plan and plat submitted by said reapportionment committee,
and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, having foud that said
petition is in all respects regular and sufficient and presented in compliance with the lwas
of the State of Oklahoma, and should be granted an allowed,
NOW, THERE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA:
Section 1. NUMBER OF WARDS ESTABLISHED: The Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, shall be divided
into five (5) Wards, for which future Trustees of said town shall be chosen or elected.
Section 2. WARDS TO BE KNOWN BY NUMBER: Wards shall be named by nuumber and be known
as "Ward One", "Ward Two", "Ward Three", "Ward Four", "Ward Five", respectively.
Section 3. WARD BOUNDRIES DEFINED: Each Ward shall embrace such territory within
its boundaries as hereinafter described:
a. "Ward One" Beginning at a point on the East side of North Main Street at the
North Town Limit Boundary Line, thence South along East side of North
Main Street to the North line of East Eight Street; Thence East along
the North side of East Eighth Street to the East Town Limit Boundary
Line; Thence Northerly and along said Town Limit Boundary Line to the
point of beginning.
b. "Ward Two": Beginning at a point on the South side of East Eighth Street at the
East Town Limit Boundary Line, thence West along the South side of
East Eight Street to the East side of North Main Street; Thence
South along the East side of North Main Street to the North side of
East Sixth Street; Thence East along the North line of East Sixth
Street to the East side of North Main Street to the North side of
East Sixth Street; Thence: East along the North line of East Sixth
Street to the East side of north Birch Street; Thence South along the
East side of North Birch Street to the North line of East Fourth
Street; Thence East along the North side of East Fourth Street to the
East Town Limit Boundary Line to the point of beginning.
c. "Ward Three": all that part within the town limits of the Town of Owasso lying
West of the West side of North Main Street and NOrth of the North side of
West Third Street and extending to the North and West Town Limit
Boundary Lines.
d. "Ward Four": Beginning at a point on the South side of East Fourth Street and
the East Town Limit Boundary Line, thence West along the South side of
East Fourth Street to the West line of North Birch Street; Thence

North along the West side of North Birch Street to the South line of
East Sixth Street; Thence West alon ghte South side of East Sixth
Street to the East Line of North Main Street; Thence South along the
East side of North Main Street to the South line of East Third Street;
Thence West along the South line of East Third Street and continuing
West along the South line of West Third Street to the West Town Limit
Boundary Lines; Thence in a Southerly direction and along the West Town
Limit Boundary Line to the North line of West First STreet; Thence
East along the NOrth line of West First Street and continuing along the
North line of East First Street to the East Town Limit Boundart Line;
Thence Northerly and along said East Town Limit Boundary Line to the
point of beginning.
e. "Ward Five": All that part within the town limits of the Town of Owasso lying
South of the South line of East First Street and the South line of
West First Street and extending to the South, East and West Town Limit
Boundary Lines.
Section 4. FUTURE ANNEXED PROPERTY TO BECOME PART OF ESTABLISHED WARDS: Upon annexation of
land to the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, such property shall become a part of the Ward or Wards
formerly adjacent to the land so becoming a part of said town and extending the Town Limit
Boundry Lines; ward boundary lines described by name streets sahll be extened to meet such
newly established town limit boundry line wherever applicable, and shall automatically
extend the area to such wards to such newly established Town Limit Boundary Line or lines.
EMERGENCY: An emergency exists for the protection of public health, peace,
safety and welfare, by reason whereof and by reason of limited time remaining prior to the
next general election of Trustees, of said Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, this ordinance,
number 56, shall take affect from and after its passage and approval, as provided by law,
and affective thereafter to the extend and purpose provided by Section 471 of Title 11, of
the Oklahoma Statutes for the year 1961.
EMERGENCY CLAUSE voted upon separtely and passed by unanimous vote of the Board
of Trustees this 1st day of Bebruary, 1965.
PASSED by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, this 1st day of
February, 1965.
APPROVED by the President of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma,
