HomeMy WebLinkAbout098_Volunteer Fire DeptORDINANCE NUMBER 98 AN ORDINANCE DEFINING AND ESTABLISHING THE STATUS AND NATURE OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE TOWN OF OWASSO OKLAHOMA; PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM MEMBERHSIP; DEFINING THE TERM "VOLUNTEER FIREMAN"; PROVIDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OKLAHOMA VOLUNTEER FIREMEN'S ACT" OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA; REPEALING INCONSTISTENT ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA: Section 1. Statues, type and nature of Fire Department. The Owasso Fire Department of the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, is a volunteer fire department, which has in it s employ not more than two (2) full salaried firemen, and that it shall be comprised of not less than twelve (12) nore more than twenty (20) volunteer firemen. Section 2. Volunteer Fireman Defined. A Volunteer fireman is defined and shall be considered as one who is enrolled as a member of the firedepartment and who serves in said capacity without receiving a regular salary. And, Whereas The Owasso Fire Department has complied iwth all rules and provisions of Sections 342 to 353 of Title 11, Oklahoma Statues, 1961, and amendments thereof, Now, Therefore, it is further ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Owasso, Oklahoma: Section 3. Compliance with "Oklahoma Volunteer Firemen's Act" and Oklahoma State Laws. The fire department of The Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, has complied with and shall continue to comply with all rules, regulations and provisions of Sections 342 to 353 of Title 11 of the Oklahoma Statues, 1961, and amended laws, oklahoma Statutes, 1967, supplement, and shall comply with all the rules, regulations and provisions contained in the Oklahoma Volunteer Firemen's Act of 1967. Section 4. Repealing Clause. All Ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent or in conflict with or repugnant to this ordinance (Number 98) and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with, inconsistent with or repungant to any provision of the Oklahoma Volunteer Firemen's Act of 1967, or other laws of the State of Oklahoma, are hereby repealed; provided, that any part, parts, section, or parts of sections, paragraphs, phrases, sentences, terms or provisions of any ordinance not in men's act and the laws of the State of Oklahoma shall remain in full force and affect. EMERGENCY: That an emergency exists for the preservation of the public health, pease, safety and propertry, and the general welfare of the inhapitants of The Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, and in order to continue and provide obviously needed fire protection, by reason whereof an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall take affect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law. PASSED: by the Board of Trustees of The Town of Owasso, Oklahoma, this 6th day of November, 1967.
