HomeMy WebLinkAbout149_Scene of Accident_Citations AuthorizedCITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA ORDINANCE NO. 149 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY OF POLICE OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, TO ISSUE TRAFFIC CITATIONS AT THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA: Section 1. AUTHORIZATION TO CITE. That except for felonies, a police office at the scene of a traffic accident may prepare and issue a written traffic citation containing a notice to appear in Count to any drive of a vehilce involved in the accident when, bases upon personal investigation, the officer has reasonable and probable grounds to believe that the person committed any offense under the provisions of the Ordinances of the City of Owasso in connection with the accident. Section 2. EMERGENCY CLAUSE. Whereas, it being immediately necessary for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of the Town of Owasso and the inhabitants thereof, that the provisions of this Ordinance be put into full force and effect, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist by reason thereof, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after tis passage, as provided by law. Emergency clause voted upon separately and passed by unanimous vote of the Council of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, this 6 day of November, 1972. Approved this 6 day of November, 1972.
