ORDINANCE NO. 150
AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE CURRENT EDITION OF THE
ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF TULSA, AS AMENDED,
FOR THE OFFICIAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE CITY OF
OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS,
REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES, PROVIDING FOR
PARTIAL INDIVIDITY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OWASSO:
Section 1. Adoption of the Electrical Code of the City of Tulsa.,
Oklahoma (July 1, 1966) as Amended (also cite as
Title 52, Revised Ordinances of the City of Tulsa
(December 1970) as Amended).
There is hereby adopted for the City of Owasso for the
purpose of safeguarding of persons and buildings and their
contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for
light, heat, power, radio, signalling and other purposes that
certain electrical code known as the Electrical Code of the
City of Tulsa (July 1, 1966) , as Amended, of which not less
than three (3) copies have been and are now filed in the office
of the City Clerk of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, and the same
are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at
length herein and from the date on which this ordinance shall
take effect the provisions thereof shall be controlling in the
construction of all buildings, structures and other subjects
therein contained within the corporate limits of the City of
Owasso, Oklahoma.
Section 2. Penalty.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any
of the provisions of this ordinance or the code hereby adopted
or who fails to comply with any of the requirements thereof
shall, upon conviction thereof, be deemed guilty of an offense
which shall be punishable by 'Line and costs not to exceed Twenty
Dollars ($20.00) . Each day which the violation shall be
continued, maintained, or permitted to exist shall be deemed a
separate offense. This section shall supersede the comparable
section in the code of the City of Tulsa only insofar as the
amount of the fine which may be levied.
Section 3. Repeal of conflicting ordinances.
All former ordinances, or parts thereof conflicting or
inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance or with the
code hereby adopted are repealed.
Section 4. Validity.
Should any section, paragraph, sentence, or word of this
ordinance, or of the code hereby adopted be declared for any
reason to be invalid it is the intent of the City Council of the
City of Owasso, Oklahoma, that it would have passed all other
portions of this ordinance independent of the elimination herefrom
of any such portion as may be declared invalid.
Section 5. Emergency.
WHEREAS, it being immediately necessary for the preserva-
tion of the peace, health and safety of Owasso and the inhabitants
thereof, that the provisions of this ordinance be put into full
force and effect an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by
reason whereof this ordinance shall take effect and be in full
force from and after its passage, as provided by law.
Emergency clause voted upon separately and passed by
unanimous vote of the Council of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma,
this day of February, 1973.
