HomeMy WebLinkAbout217_Requiring License Plates on VehiclesORDINANCE NO. 217 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING ANY PERSON TO OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE WHICH FAILS TO DISPLAY IDENTIFICATION NUMBER REQUIRED BY THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA; MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO CAUSE OR PERMIT SUCH NUMBER TO BE OBSCURE FROM SIGHT; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. PROPER LICENSE TAG DISPLAY REQUIRED. No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the streets, roadways or throughfares within the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, unless such vehicle displays a current and appropriate license tag or identification number plate as required by the State of Oklahoma. SECTION2. LICENSE PLATES TO BE IN OPEN VIEW. No person shall cause or permit the license or identification number plate to be covered from view, and shall not operate a motor vehicle upon the streets, roadways or throughfares within the City of Owasso, unless such plate referred to in Section One (1) of this Ordinance in placed and fastened securely to the rear of the vehicle and the numbers and letters of such plate is at all times in clear view. SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby delclared to exist, by reason whereof, this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
