HomeMy WebLinkAbout356_Amend Sec 15-401_Maximum Speed Limit of 25 MPH513997 BOOK 4965 PAGE 1450 STATE OF OKLAHOMA TULSA COUNTY FILED OR RECORDED 1986 AUG 26 PM 3:19 JOAN HASTINGS TULSA COUNTY CLERK ORDINANCE NO. 356 SECTION 15-401 - SPEED LIMITS AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 15-401 OF THE OWASSO CITY CODE PROVIDING FOR A MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT OF 25 MILES PER HOUR EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE POSTED BY AUTHORITY OF THE CIEF OF POLICE OR CITY MANAGER; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA THAT, Section 1. That Section 15-401A of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows, to wit: A. No vehicle shall be driven at a greater speed than twenty- five (25) miles per hour upon any street or highway within the city except: Section 2. That Section 15-401, C., 3. and Section 15-401, D. of the City Code are hereby amended to read as follows, to wit: C.3. No person may drive a vehicle at a speed greater than twenty-five (25) miles per hour unless traffic speed limit signs erected pursuant to the authority of the city manager or chief of police specify a greater or lesser speed and if not otherwise provided for in this part: D. The city manager of chief of police shall have authority to establish speed zones less than twenty-five (25) miles per hour. Zones for less than speeds of twenty-five (25) miles per hour shall be posted and when posted shall become the lawful speed for the zone to which the signs apply. (Prior Code, Chapter 20) Section 3. That Section 15-402, A., of the City Code is hereby amended to read as follows, to wit: A. Changeable message signs when erected shall define the school zone which the signs controls. The speed in the school zone shall be as posted by the changeable message signs. The maximum speed limit shall be twenty-five (25) miles per hour. The changeable message signs shall post speed limits for time when school is in session as follows: BOOK4965PAGE 1451 1. 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. 25 M.P.H.; 2. 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. 25 M.P.H.; and 3. 2:30 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. 25 M.P.H.; and at such other times as the proper authority may determine for special school events. For all other times not herein provided, the speed limit shall be twenty -five (25) miles per hour. Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed, provisions consistent herewith remain unaffected hereby.
