CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF
THE EAST 25 FEET OF LOT SIX (6) AND ALL OF LOT
SEVEN (7), BLOCK FOURTEEN (14), ORIGINAL TOWN
OF OWASSO, CITY OF OWASSO, COUNTY OF TULSA,
STATE OF OKLAHOMA, TO THE COUNTY OF TULSA,
OKLAHOMA, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SAID COUNTY OF
TULSA, OKLAHOMA, UTILIZING SAME FOR
CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION THEREON OF A
LIBRARY OPERATED UNDER THE TULSA CITY- COUNTY
LIBRARY SYSTEM, PROVIDING FOR REVERSION OF
TITLE, PROVIDING FOR REFERRAL OF SAID SALE TO
ELECTORS OF THE CITY IF A SUFFICIENT LAWFUL
REFERENDUM PETITION IS PROPERLY FILED,
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the East 25 Feet of Lot Six (6), and all of
Lot Seven (7), in Block Fourteen (14), ORIGINAL TOWN OF
OWASSO, City of Owasso, County of Tulsa, State of Oklahoma,
was originally conveyed to the Town of Owasso for the
purposes of locating thereon the original water tower and
water maintenance facility; and,
WHEREAS, presently, such original use has been
abandoned and the property is presently being utilized by
the municipality for the storage of miscellaneous items
including, but not limited to, poly carts; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that the public use of such
property has heretofore been abandoned, and further, the
property is no longer suitable or adequate for the public
use it was obtained for as well as originally devoted to;
and,
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the of the
City of Owasso, Oklahoma, that such property should be,
under the terms hereinafter set forth, conveyed to the
County of Tulsa, State of Oklahoma, for use by said County
of Tulsa, State of Oklahoma, of construction thereon and
operation of a public library within said City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, THAT:
Section One: The conveyance of the East 25 Feet of
Lot Six (6) and all of Lot Seven (7), Block Fourteen (14),
ORIGINAL TOWN OF OWASSO, City of Owasso, County of Tulsa,
State of Oklahoma, is hereby authorized by the City Council
of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, such conveyance being to
the County of Tulsa, State of Oklahoma, for Ten Dollars
($10.00) and other valuable consideration consisting of, the
County of Tulsa, State of Oklahoma, through the Tulsa
City- County Library System, locating and operating thereon a
public library. Such conveyance shall specifically provide
that if and in the event said County of Tulsa, State of
Oklahoma, shall fail to construct a public library on the
aforedescribed property within two (2) years from the date
of conveyance, or, thereafter, shall at any time cease to
operate such facility so constructed as a public library,
title to the aforesaid property shall revert unto the City
of Owasso, Oklahoma, unless such failure to construct a

public library thereon, or, thereafter, to operate a public
library thereon, shall be specifically consented to by the
City Council of the City of Owasso, Oklahoma, pursuant to a
duly enacted Ordinance providing for same.
Section Two: This Ordinance shall be referred to a
vote of the electors of the City if a sufficient and lawful
Referendum Petition is properly filed within thirty (30)
days after its passage; otherwise, it shall go into effect
thirty (30) days after its passage.
