AMBULANCE ORDINANCE #545
SUBJECT:

BACKGROUND:
this year, an Ambulance Ordinance Review Team was formed to review the city's
Life Support Ambulance Ordinance. Their task was to research, review and evaluate
various aspects of the city's ambulance service licensure at an ALS (advanced life support)
rating. The team studied the numbers and advantages of an ALS (advanced life support) against
a BLS (basic life support) rating. If the licensure was lowered from ALS to BLS, the potential
on revenue needed to be addressed also. At the April 15, 1997 City Council meeting,
Ordinance Review Team presented their finding and recommendations.
