HomeMy WebLinkAbout2004 07_Community Build Park_2004.04.20Will _1!1r 11, 00,,;A .. 191 WHEREAS, the Owasso Community Foundation, Inc., is an organized, non-profit group created for the purpose of constructing a unique playground concept in Owasso; and WHEREAS, individuals associated with the Owasso Community Foundation, Inc., have expended countless hours and considerable energy in visiting with church and civic groups, major retailers, financial institutions, and others in order to create community involvement and commitment to the planned park; and, WHEREAS, in order to assist the Owasso Community Foundation, Inc.'s in its efforts, it is important for the Council of the City of Owasso to publicly outline it commitments to this endeavor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OWASSO, OKLAHOMA, that, to-wit: The City Council, in its efforts to assist in the development of a Community Build Park in the City of Owasso, hereby commits to provide the following, to-wit: 1. An area of approximately 3 acres in size, located in the Northwest comer of the Owasso Sports Park on the North side of the drainage area, depicted on the site map attached hereto; and, 2. Construction and equipment funding in the amount of $200,000.00, said funds to be received from Vision 2025 funding. Upon the completion of the construction and the equipping of the Community Build Park, the City will provide for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the park through park department personnel or such other employees of the City as the City Manager, in his discretion, may direct. Furthennore, the City Council of the City of Owasso is desirous of commending Ms. Robin Thoendel, Ms. Kenna Cataudella, Mr. Fred Costin, Ms. Donna Pepper, Mr. David Warren, and Mr. Tim Rooney for the leadership, dedication, and diligence collectively provided for the creation and development of the Owasso Community Foundation, Inc., as well as a project of this magnitude certain to make a difference in our community for years to come.
